2009-2010 ECRC Meet #1 - Allentown, PA
| 2009-2010 ECRC Meet #1 was held in Allentown, PA on October 2-4. The event featured many returning players and a large number of new faces. Everyone had fun throughout the weekend. Special recognition to Artie Schofield in winning the Men's Singles and Christina Vandling for winning the Womens Singles. Also, look out for Josh Masia and Rachel Weiss. Both had never played racquetball before College and placed second in both Men's and Women's Singles after a few short years playing. Rankings of the teams following Meet #1 will be posted by the end of Columbus Day. We hope to see you at Meet #2 in Albany! |

2008-2009 ECRC Meet #4 - Penn State University
| 2008-2009 Meet #4 was the largest event the ECRC has ever hosted. With 12 courts the event ran until close to 11 on both Friday and Saturday. Play finally ended on Sunday around 3, culminating with the Womens 1 Doubles Final in which SUNY Binghamton defeated Penn State -14, 14, 10!
This tournament was the event of upsets, highlighted by Penn State player Alex Barch defending his home courts valiantly against ECRC newcomer Danny Lavely. Alex defeated the Junior World Champion 7, -7, 8 in the Mens 1 Quarterfinal before one of the largest and loudest crowds in recent memory. However, Alex would run into destiny in the Mens 1 Final as Brian Straub came in the underdog although being the #1 seed. Brian was squaring off against Alex on Alex's home courts with a track record of 0-6 in the Mens 1 Finals. History was not on Brian's side in the final ECRC meet for both players! Many expected at least a tie-breaker, but Brian had other ideas. Brian stormed to victory in two games 11 & 9.
Other notable performances included Christina Vandling continuing her dominance in sweeping Womens 1 Singles for all four events this year, defeating Candace Tomczak for the fourth straight tournament. Grove City College Womens team performed well in Womens 2's and Womens 3's, winning Womens 2 Doubles and Womens 2 & 3 Singles. Penn State University held their own at the home courts with Team #1 placing in the Gold Semi-Finals or better in all divisions.
The next event hosted by the ECRC is the Northeast Collegiate Regional Championships at The Court Club in Albany, NY. The Regional Championship will be February 20-22 and play will begin at 10 am. The Awards Banquet and Ceremony will be at the host hotel, The Best Western, on Saturday evening. Individual awards include Newcomer of the Year, Most Improved Player and Most Valuable Player. Team awards include the Team Spirit Award and the Top 3 teams throughout the ECRC season in Mens, Womens and Combined scoring.
Last years recipients of the individual awards were, Josh Masia (PSU) – Newcomer of the Year, Dylan Kirn (Springfield College) – Most Improved Player, and Stephen Corndell (Bryant University) – Most Valuable Player. Team Spirit Award went to Bryant University for the second straight season. Season scoring placed Penn State 1st, Bryant University 2nd and Army 3rd in all scoring divisions.

ECRC Meet #3 - Nashua, NH
| ECRC Meet #3 was held at the Nashua Athletic Club in Nashua, NH. This was the first trip to Nashua for the ECRC and special thanks to the NAC for hosting the event. John-Craig Chisolm won his second ECRC event over Marc Moccia. Christina Vandling won her third straight event in Womens Division #1.
Special thanks to RolloutRacquetball at the event. RolloutRacquetball is the newest sponsor of the ECRC and offered apparel to the teams and ran a number of raffles throughout the weekend.
Team Scoring will be announced at the trophy presentation at the Regional Banquet. Going into the final event many teams are contending for placement higher than they have finished before and many teams are separated by one or two head-to-head matches. See you all at Penn State! - Smokey

ECRC Meet #2 - Albany, NY: 11/1/08
| ECRC Meet #2 was in Albany, NY at The Court Club. Congrats to Hisao Shmizu on his first ECRC win in a tough tie-breaker over Brian Straub. Also congrats to Christina Vandling for winning the Womens over Candace Tomczak.

ECRC Meet #1 was played the first weekend of October 1st, 2008. Congratulations to John-Craig Chisolm on winning his 1st ECRC Meet in the 1st try. The results from 2007-2008 Meet #4 have been posted. Along with the Results from the 2007-2008 ECRC Season. Congrats to the winners of Meet #4! Army took the Mens and Combined scoring, while the PSU ladies won Womens.

Taking 1st place in all scoring was Penn State, 2nd place in all scoring was Bryant University and back to the top ranks of the ECRC with a great season was Army in 3rd place of all scoring.

Congratulations to Penn State University, Bryant University & Army for placing 1st, 2nd & 3rd respectively in all scoring, Mens, Womens and Combined. It would appear that these three have seperated themselves from the rest for the time being. However, keep an eye out for Providence College, Binghamton University & Clarkson University, who all had strong matches throughout the weekend.

End of Season wrap up |
Congratulations to Penn State on another ECRC Regular Season title,
holding off a very strong Clarkson University Team in the closest race
in ECRC history. The 2005-2006 season will be looked back on in years to come as a great stepping stone in the tremendous growth
of our sport.

Hey ECRC, the draw sheets are up for the 2006 Regionals. I would just like to give some appreciation to Shane Wood for going the extra mile to organize not just 1, but 2 tournaments in a weekend! Good luck to everyone! Also to find your start time make sure you check ALL of the divisions you are playing. This means singles, doubles, mixed, and possibly squash. Penn State results are up! |
After an awesome weekend the results are in from Penn State. Congrats to Penn State for sweeping the tournament. Clarkson University put up a good fight but home court advantage won out in the end! Also Congrats to Binghamton University for there first top 3 finish overall. Once again Shane Wood put together an awesome tournament, and thanks to all of the Alumni who came to help out. Also thanks to Alex Barch for the great party Saturday night, it’s always amazing to see the rivalry on the court and the friendship off the court! Clarkson Wins 1st tournament! |
Last weekend the first tournament of the 2005-2006 tournament was held in Allentown PA. It was the usual weekend of great racquetball and great comradely! The results will be posted soon, and in the meantime the next tournament will be Dec 2-4th at The Court Club in Albany. This tournament is looking to be big, so make sure that teams let Shane know early as to how many people are going. Check out the tournament page for all the details |
