2009 Intercollegiate National Championships

The 2009 Intercollegiate Championship was held on the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. A number of ECRC teams were in attendance and all teams performed well.
Notable Team Results:
Division I: Penn State University – 6th Place in Womens Scoring & 9th Place in Combined Scoring
Division II: Clarkson University – Division II Combined Scoring & Womens Scoring National Champions. 3rd Place in Mens Scoring.
Bryant University: 2nd Place in Mens, Womens and Combined Scoring
Springfield College: 3rd Place in Womens & Combined Scoring
Throughout the week the ECRC played hard and each team left all they had on the courts. Many of the ECRC teams have youthful core groups and will be looking to turn some heads next year while this year was a rebuilding year. This was the final year for a small number of players. To all those who graduated, I hope you had a wonderful time in the ECRC, full of fond memories. Shane & I will cherish each memory we have with each of you. Of those I was able to hang out with this past week in Arizona, I know you all had a great time! I hope to see you back this summer for either the Alumni Tournament in June or the Collegiate Tournament in July.
The Alumni Tournament will be held in Albany, NY. The date is tentatively set for June 6th & 7th. Friday June 5th will be an optional reunion of sorts at a local Pub/Bar with food and drink as part of your entry fee. On Saturday there will be an 18-hole Golf Tournament. This is being coordinated by Pat Bernado and Joseph Megill. Saturday evening there will be a BBQ in the area for all attending. Sunday will be a one-day doubles racquetball shootout. Teams will be paired randomly. Requested teams may be granted upon request. However, random teams are preferred to give each alumni a chance to play with some one they either never knew or didn’t know that well. Fees and housing information will follow in the next few weeks. A flyer detailing all information will be posted on the web site and emailed to the Alumni.
The Collegiate Tournament is TBD in mid-July. The weekend and location are both TBD. More information is to come!
Looking ahead to next season the ECRC plans on adding (2) new teams and as many as (4) new teams are possible. The 2009-2010 ECRC schedule has been posted in the web forum and will be posted shortly on the web site.
I apologize for not finalizing the points from Regional’s yet. I will try to have that finished in the next (2) weeks and posted.

The next Alumni Event is tentatively scheduled for June 6-7. Friday June 5 Alumni will be welcome to a reunion of sorts prior to the Golf Tournament on Saturday. The ECRC Alumni Foundations second event was a success. The Foundation ran the second Alumni tournament in conjunction with the ECRC Collegiate Summer Bash. The foundation was able to raise base funds, while also covering all costs of the event for the Collegiate players. Allowing for any additional funds raised to be dispersed back for use in the 2008-2009 season. Keep talking to other Alumni and let's look for a large turn out at the Regional tournament in February.. |
